Hailing from South London, Cosmo Pyke is a genre-defying artist with a knack for blending soulful melodies and urban poetry.
Pyke’s debut EP, “Just Cosmo,” introduced listeners to his versatile style, breaking away from conventional genre constraints. Tracks like “Social Sites” and “Great Dane” quickly became anthems, showcasing his ability to craft infectious tunes with meaningful lyrics. Released in 2021, his second EP "A Piper For Janet" is home to 4 unskippable tracks, blending sounds of jazz, blues, indie and hip hop; it is arguably his best work yet. "Cursers Lament", released earlier this year, further showcases Pyke's unmistakable talent which I was fortunate enough to see live.
I attended his London show on the 24th November and was not disappointed. Pyke's stage presence was magnetic-he transformed the venue into an intimate space, forging a genuine connection with the audience. The setlist (which I got my hands on) showcased his versatility as an artist. The live renditions breathed new life into familiar songs and offered a fresh perspective for both fans and newcomers alike. On top of this, he played a few unreleased tracks which left the crowd anticipating his future releases. The band’s cohesion was another standout aspect of the show. The collaborative energy between Cosmo and his fellow musicians elevated the performance, not to mention their insane talent and the bassist's dance moves...
In a musical landscape that often gravitates towards the predictable, Cosmo Pyke stands out as an artist unafraid to push boundaries. He's definitely worth a listen!
